HOW POETRY COMES TO ME
It comes blundering over the
Boulders at night, it stays
Frightened outside the
Range of my campfire
I go to meet it at the
Edge of the night
-Gary Snyder
Dear Tony,
You said you lived for a year and a half in a small town in the middle of the United States where there was nothing but horse poop and no dog poop. You slept only five hours a day while writing your thesis. The few times you've dreamed about going back to school lately, those days are memorable ones. And you're listening to "La Vie En Rose," the original 1946 song by Edith Piaf.
I said that I used to think Piaf was too feminine and I couldn't listen to it. But because of you, for the first time, I think Piaf is nice, and I feel that she is singing old Paris, mellow past, and there is also a song sung by the music when Mi Diao - the mysterious character appeared in the puppet show, not only brought me back to Paris where I lived for four years, but also brought me into my childhood in my hometown. ....
You said that you had already written the Expert System application program for the thesis before you went abroad, so you took it as the topic of the seminar. You also said that the thesis was not written according to the usual style, but was based on programs. Put a sentence or short poem on the first page of each chapter, and bring Shakespeare and Frost to add luster to the thesis. Fortunately, the advisor did not object, and finally realized your dream of studying abroad.
I said that I just went to the school to have a meeting with the thesis advisor. Ms. R. is really like a mother. I was really surprised and a bit overwhelmed. Because she always reminds me to emphasize some things that I think are not important at all, such as page fonts, how to put citations and appendices, Such as "if you have no inspiration, you can conduct interviews with the parties and put them in the paper..." "It’s okay to change the title if necessary.... " This is in contrast to my professor of poets in Paris, who gave you great freedom and only carefully checked what you were going to serve in the end.
You said that your former advisor was German-American, and you also felt like a mother to her. Once you gave her various brands of Taiwanese cigarettes, and she happily buried her head on the desk like a little girl. This image will always remain in your heart.
I said that in the past, I was always a pessimist who felt that I couldn't survive.
You said that everyone has low tides in their life. When you're down, you go for a walk, fantasize about being a philosopher, pondering the great meaning of life, and tread a path called Tony. Otherwise, if you take out the previous works and appreciate them, you will feel that you are really talented and full of confidence.
I said you boys who study science, why can you be so happy? It really makes me jealous. When I am depressed, I always think about how to commit suicide so that no one will find the body...
You said that when you are depressed, don’t think about disappearing. Think about it, BB hasn’t heard his daughter/son speak Taiwanese yet. Also, aren’t my emails written in vain?
I said, don't worry about my yelling, I am also curious about how BB's children can learn Taiwanese well in a French-speaking environment! And you are always a gentleman, modest, warm and understanding. In front of you, I became a naughty girl. Talking to you every day makes me so happy. ….

Oh! Dear Tony,
The weather is warm and the air is fragrant. The sun makes the soil fragrant, and the sun also makes the leaves fragrant.
Sending you a few photos, which are the scenery when I was walking in the forest near BB's father's country home in Bretagne - Brittany Peninsula, Northwest France in May of one year:
Individual abandoned houses, carefree rivers, free wild flowers, elegant trees. ....
Walk there and you can go all day without meeting a single person.
Have fun on your Tony's path, weave your philosophers and artists strange wonderland.
Ah! Bretagne in May invites you. ….

HOW POETRY COMES TO ME
It comes blundering over the
Boulders at night, it stays
Frightened outside the
Range of my campfire
I go to meet it at the
Edge of the night
- Gary Snyder
Tony,
………………………………………………………………………
哦! Tony,
